At Darwin Education, we are dedicated to providing individual and therapeutic support for students with special educational needs (SEN). We believe that every young person deserves a second, third, forth, fifth and so on chance. Our mission is to create an inclusive and adaptable learning environment, where every young person can thrive and reach their full potential.
We're also here to provide support and advocacy for any SEN youth and parents/carers that need it.
Darwin Education is here to help provide a positive change in our education system and to create a new way of learning.

Our staff consists of experienced educators and professionals who are passionate about their fields and committed to providing the best possible education to our students. We carefully select our faculty members based on their expertise, teaching experience, and dedication to their craft. Our staff members are not only experts in their fields but also caring mentors who provide personalized guidance to our students.
At Darwin Education, we believe in supporting great role models for our younger generation. We also like to help the education and neurodiverse community to network. We have done this by creating our first Sunday League football club.

Our current Alternative Provision is for secondary aged students.
We have 2 sessions a day from Monday to Thursday and only one morning session on a Friday. The morning session is 8:45am - 11:45am. The afternoon session is 12:15pm - 3:15pm.
If you have an EHCP, you might be entitled to a taxi to transport you. We are very close to the town with bus links to the surrounding areas and close to Hitchin train station.
Please speak to your EHCP officer about an EOTAS (education other than a school) package, or local authority if out of education but your child does not have an EHCP, about wanting to work with us or with the school SENCO if the student is currently in a school setting.
Please contact darwineducations@gmail.com for prices of intervention packages.
All staff are DBS checked and have continuously ongoing training in safeguarding, Attachment and Awareness and other SEN and current safeguarding issues. We believe that knowledge is power and this is forever evolving. We continue to learn as adults to provide the best support for our young people and families.
We can create an online learning package to begin with for the young person to build relationships and for them to start socialising. We can do home visits, or they can visit the provision out of hours so they start to feel safe within the area. This is all based around the individuals needs and we go at their pace for them to feel safe.
All students will get a key worker. This key worker will be the person liaising with home weekly on how they are getting on. Weekly reports are written and sent to the school/home/any agencies involved. All students will have access to literacy and numeracy and any short courses that they are suited too. They will have access to any interventions needed that we offer and family support. This is all dependant on the young persons needs and is individual to them.
All staff are trained and have continuous training within SEN and safeguarding. Before we start we will discuss with outside agencies, school and home about the young persons needs and if we will be able to support them. Within the four areas of the SEN code of practice, we are specialists in SEMH as a primary need. All students will have a visit either to the provision or a home visit before they begin so they get to know familiar faces, especially with their key worker. A Pupil Page Profile will be created and a risk assessment of every young person so that all staff are aware of the young persons needs. The sharing of this knowledge is vital for the young person to be successful and to create the best individual learning plan for them.
Interventions are based on the young persons needs. This can be done as part of the Alternative Provision package or as part of an outreach programme working with schools. We follow the Graduated Approach and all interventions will have a detailed APDR (assess, plan, do, review) write up and process. A part of assessing the young persons needs could involve psychometric assessments. These will help the young person to get the best support available to them for Access Arrangements when doing their exams. We can support the school SENCO in this too.
